Referral Page (Classic Landing)

Choosing the Landing option leads Referrals to a single web page that will contain a call to action button. This is ideal for businesses who want to create a page that has only one goal: creating conversions.  This article will guide you through creating a landing page. You will learn to:

  • Customize page layout, text, and images.
  • Add custom options to your landing page.
  • Create a Call to Action (CTA) button.
  • Setup up your conversion tracking.

How to Customize your Landing Page

> Navigation: Main Admin Page > Programs > Select Program > Edit Referral Page > Page

The Page button allows you to customize all aspects of your Landing page. Page options are divided into five sections: Page Text, Layout Options, Images, More Info/About, and Advanced.

Page Text

  • Title: Displays in large text on all pages for this campaign. This is typically where the member recommendation is displayed. You can choose to have the title displayed as a quote by checking the Display like a quote checkbox. (Displayed as #1 on the example image)
  • Text (optional): Optional text displayed below the title. You can choose to have the text aligned to the center or aligned to the left.(Displayed as #2 on the example image)
  • Offer Text to Referral: This is the description of the offer/program. (Displayed as #3 on the example image)
  • Directions (optional): If there are any additional directions, place them here. (Displayed as #4 on the example image)

Page Layout

  • Wide Double Column: Wide double column displays information horizontally, and places the image and offer text side by side. By default, programs will utilize wide double column.
  • Narrow Single Column: Narrow single column places the offer text above the image, and is displayed vertically. 
  • Hide Center Content: No information or image displayed in the center.
  • Display print coupon button: Choose ‘yes’ or ‘no’ button. If ‘yes’ is selected then the print coupon button will display on the page. 
  • Terms and Conditions: Choose whether or not to display the terms and conditions on the Referral Page.
  • Display a code to Referral: You choose whether or not to display a code on the Referral Page. If using a code, you can choose between displaying the Member’s code or a static coupon code (shown). If a static code is selected then a text box will appear to enter your code of choice.
  • Text displayed next to Member code: This text will display to the left of the Referral code.

Images

  • Header Image: This is an optional image that will display above the site header and underneath the header image.
  • Center Image: This is the image that displays to the left or below your offer text, depending on the page layout you choose. This image is optional and can be removed.

More Info/About Us Section

More Info/About section displays either below or to the right of the form. This section displays more information about your business. By default, this section will not be displayed.
Display "More Info" section?: Determine whether or not you want to display the More Info/About Us section on your form page.
Location: Where will the section display? It can be placed below or to the right (displayed) of the form page.
Title & Text: Edit the title and text of the section. This is what will display on the form page.

Advanced

The Referral Page Inject feature lets you add HTML and JavaScript directly into the bottom of your page, inside a body tag. This can be used to insert tracking and other external scripts you may want to use, but are not necessary.

Referral Rock is updated on a regular basis, and classes and IDs are subject to change with Style updates. Please be sure to maintain your scripts to ensure functionality.

Call to Action (CTA) Button

The Call to Action button, or CTA, is what referrals will click to be redirected to your sites. You can edit the text on the CTA button as well as specify the URL that referrals will be sent to once they click on the button. You can also choose to display helper text or a hint below the CTA button. This feature is optional and, by default, is left blank.

Adding URL Parameters

When using a landing page to lead Referrals to an external quote or contact form, adding URL parameters like {NAME} and {EMAIL} can capture identifying information about the user clicking the link. This information will be used to autocomplete the form on your form page.

Settings

Conversion settings include the options to automatically approve referrals, specify when cookies expire, and determine your attribution settings.

  • Automatically approve referral? - This option allows you to customize whether all Referrals will be automatically approved upon conversion for this program.
  • Tracking Expire - Allows you to customize the amount of days your Referral Rock cookie lives before expiring. Default value is 120 days.
  • Tracking with First Interaction Attribution - Determines which member will receive credit for a referral if the referral clicks on multiple member's referral links, and therefore multiple Referral Rock cookies exist.
    • Last Smart Interaction (Recommended) - Credit for the referral goes to the last member whose link was clicked by the referral.
    • First Interaction - Credit for the referral goes to the first member whose link was clicked by the referral. 
    • Last Interaction - Cookies are always replaced on a new referral link click, regardless of whether the referral clicks the same member's link more than once. This reduces tracking accuracy and fraud detection but can be useful if multiple members and referrals are expected to share the same device, as each referral link click on the same device will be tracked as a different user.

Tracking Conversions

Placing the conversion script on the Thank You, Order Summary or Form Completion page will capture Referral information, attribute it to the appropriate Member, and send it back to Referral Rock. If your referral's process is single-step, you can simply use the conversion script. If you require the referral's information to be updated throughout a multi-step sales process, you will need to use our Referral Update script or trigger an update through an external system such as Zapier.
